Guilan is a character in Prince of Persia: The Graphic Novel.

Biography[]

Guilan is the daughter of Saman who conquered Marv. Saman also adopted Layth into his family after he had killed his father. Guilan grew up in Marv with her brother Guiv and Layth, being equal in all things. Layth was a gentle soul and Guilan was drawn to him. When Saman died he wanted Guiv to take over, but a Caliph from Baghdad sent Amir with an ultimatum: let Layth rule or the will be bloodshed. Layth was made the ruler, and Guilan married him. One night Guiv tried to kill Layth, and was caught. Guilan begged Layth to let Guiv live. She even went as far as to threaten to take her own life, which would also end the life of her unborn baby. When Guiv decided to leave Marv, Guilan wanted him to stay, but ultimately failed to stop him. Meanwhile general Amir started to show affection towards Guilan, which she did not like at all. After Guilan had given birth to a daughter, Amir put his plan into motion and killed Layth. Guilan managed to escape the palace and was hidden inside a well with her baby. The guard however found her and she revealed herself, but silently motioned the water guardian to take care of her baby. Guilan was brought before Amir, who wanted to marry Guilan, but she grabbed Amir's sword and killed herself.[1]
