Hunter Hounds are common enemies encountered in Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones.

Official Description[]

"Several Scythian houses employ specially bred dogs to assist them in tracking game (for wounded enemies). Some houses (notably Hedgehog) have even gone far as to turn hounds into weapons of war. Spiked armor and steel plated claws allow the beasts to either charge enemies or swat them, inflicting serious damage. In transforming these creatures, the Vizier has merely amplified these considerably strengths: a keen sense of smell, powerful legs (used for both tracking and mauling), and strong jaws filled with sharp teeth (filed down by the Scythians to razor sharp points)."
—Official Booklet Description[1]

Biography[]

Before their servitude to the Vizier, the Scythian tribes would often use specially bred dogs to help them in hunting and fighting.[1] Changed by the Sands of Time however, they become an even more dangerous species.

Gameplay[]

Strategy[]

Hunter Hounds often attack in packs and are capable of overpowering Prince with sheer numbers. Their claw swipes can knock Prince down and they also possess a great deal of agility, and can evade most of the Prince's attacks. They possess no armor, and can be quickly dealt with. However, without a secondary weapon, they become quite challenging. They are immune to Speed Kill.[2]

A Hunter Hound's most dangerous aspect is their unique ability to drain Prince of the Sands he possesses by means of consumption. Hunter Hounds do this by opening their jaws, and consuming the Sand by way of sucking it out. Multiple Hunter Hounds can use this attack simultaneously and several times in a row. This means that the Prince can be completely robbed of any Sands he has. Because they're animals, it is impossible to retrieve, or even gain any Sands from a Hound once killed.

A Hunter Hound's greatest strength is also their greatest weakness. The short delay in which they consume Sands can be exploited by running up to them, and stabbing them in the head through their wide-open jaws, killing them instantaneously.

The downside is to lose one slot of Sand, and not being able to replace it immediately. This can be avoided by stabbing them as soon as possible, retrieving the stolen Sand before it was fully consumed, or never even losing it in the first place. As the Dark Prince, use the Daggertail to knock them down, then perform Asha's Fury on a Hound.[2]
