The Imperial Guards are an uncommon enemy encountered in Prince of Persia: Warrior Within.

Official Description[]

"These magnificent warriors are truly a sight to behold, as their combat prowess is second to none. Originally created to manage the enslaved villagers who built the Empress' Fortress, they now manage the twisted army that inhabits it."
—Official Booklet Description[1]

Biography[]

The Prince encountered the Imperial Guards during his first fight with Kaileena the Empress of Time. They carry a deadly, unbreakable sword and can withstand a lot of punishment before being ultimately killed.

During the battle, they're often summoned in pairs. Once summoned, Kaileena will fly up out of reach of the Prince, during this time the prince must kill the Imperial Guards, which almost always drop Sands of Time. Imperial Guards are very similar in stance to Crow Masters and even make similar sounds, but a lot more tougher. They are dressed in red robes and a red mask. And they appear to be female due to the shape of their chests and torsos.

Gameplay[]

Strategy[]

Fighting the Imperial Guards is almost an identical battle to the Crow Master fights, except you are fighting two at once. They may seem invincible at first, but even slowing time down makes them one combo to doom, and when they die, they release sands.

For the most part, run from the Imperial Guards, and instead break Kaileena's fine pottery, as some have spare sands that will be invaluable in your fight against her. Once you have a sand gauge that is only two under max, you can vault over the Imperial Guards and kill them after a few hits, getting two more sand slots, giving you full sands for the continuing battle against Kaileena. She summons them twice during the singular fight against her, so you have plenty of chances to get and use Sands of Time.

You can jump on their backs, but they will block most of the attacks and the Prince will achieve nothing and the Guards can strike you before you can block. It is advisable to take a Kerena to the Throne Room, and keep it intact so that you can throw it at one of them, take his sword, hit the other one with an aerial combo and another one, which will kill him due to the sword's power.

There are two weapon racks in the throne room. You can use those weapons to kill the guards by charge-throwing the weapons in them and the sword at them the second time they come, killing one for sure, and it will leave the other one so weak that one vault combo would be enough to kill him.
