Layth is a character in Prince of Persia: The Graphic Novel.

Biography[]

Layth was the son of Commander Mamun in Marv. When the city was conquered by Saman, and Layth's father killed, Saman adopted Layth into his family. Layth and his adoptive sister Guilan grew close growing up. When Saman dies, he passed on his crown to Guiv. However, a general Amir sent by the Caliph of Baghdad wanted Layth on the throne. With the threat of a bloodshed, Guiv relinquished his claim, but harbored ill will towards Layth. Once Guiv even tried to kill Layth, but when standing over sleeping Layth with sword in hand, Guiv reconsidered. Guiv was caught and held underwater in the palace's pool. Guilan threatened to take her own life and that of her unborn baby if Layth allows Guiv to be killed. Layth didn't really want to be on the throne, but ruled with kindness. But it took a toll on Layth, he was constipated, and even eating figs didn't help. Amir, who now was the general of Marv wanted to raise forces in case Guiv return to claim the throne, but Layth knew he would not. When a prophecy was made about the fall of leaders, Layth had the prophecy written down to calm people. When Guilan gave birth to a daughter, Layth felt that the past didn't matter anymore and was looking towards a bright future. He was sadly mistaken though, as Amir staged a coup and beheaded Layth.[1]
